In the middle of the front side of the medal is a plaque with the inscription: "'My heart is in the work' Andrew Carnegie 1900". Around the front side of the medal is the inscription: "Carnegie Institute of Technology Pittsburgh Pennsylvania". The reverse side of the medal contains the inscription: "To commemorate the eightieth birthday of Andrew Carnegie and the fifteenth anniversary of the Carnegie Institute of Technology 1915."
